A load of eggs worth around $ 40,000 was stolen from the back of a trailer in Pennsylvania during the weekend in the middle of rising egg costs in the US.
The State Police of Pennsylvania said that around 100,000 eggs were taken from the back of the distribution trailer of Pete & Gerry’s Organics on Saturday around 8:40 PM in GreenCastle. An investigation is underway and the police have not provided any further details.
In a statement to CBS News Affiliate WHP TV, Pete & Gerry’s said it was aware of the theft and working with local law enforcement.
“We take this issue seriously and are committed to resolve it as quickly as possible. Because of the ongoing investigation, we cannot comment on this,” the company said.
