An 11-year-old girl and her mother have died after an apparent murder-suicide in DeKalb County.
On Sunday at 7:43 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Ashley Creek Circle after receiving a report of someone being shot.
Upon arrival, officers found an 11-year-old girl and her mother dead from gunshot wounds.
DeKalb County police identified the child as 11-year-old Makenzie B., who had recently graduated from their Summer Survival Swim Program. Her mother was identified as 31-year-old Qiana Rainley.

Detectives and forensic investigators spent most of the night searching the parking lot and towed one car as evidence.
The girl’s other mother said Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach that her wife murdered their daughter and then committed suicide.
On Monday afternoon, a loved one laid two flowers at the spot where mother and daughter died.
Police continue to investigate this murder-suicide.
