(CBS-DETROIT) – Ingham County officials are pursuing criminal charges after 15 dead cats were found in a home Friday morning, authorities say.

Ingham County Animal Control officers executed a search warrant at a home on Denver Avenue after receiving a complaint of cats living in unsanitary conditions.

The agency says 15 dead cats and six live cats were removed from the home and taken to the Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter.

The surviving cats underwent medical evaluations on Friday.

A report requesting criminal charges will be filed by the agency with the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.
