March 18 – A 16-year-old cyclist was taken to a hospital Friday evening after being hit by a vehicle and suffering life-threatening injuries, Bakersfield police said.
It happened at 7:02 p.m. on Ming Avenue and El Portal Drive, where the woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, a Bakersfield Police Department press release said.
The driver was traveling west on Ming and did not see the cyclist, police said.
Westbound Ming on Manning Street was closed while officers investigated. Police are asking anyone with information to call 661-327-7111.
