Groton police announced they have arrested and charged a 17-year-old in connection with an October crash that killed a 14-year-old boy.
The crash occurred late Monday evening, Oct. 14, when Groton First Responders were dispatched to Fishtown Road for reports of a collision with serious injuries.
Upon arrival, police found that all four occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured and were transported to hospital.
Later that evening, police were told that one of the passengers, a 14-year-old boy, had died in hospital.
After thorough investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for the 17-year-old man.
Police determined that the 17-year-old, who was the driver of the vehicle, had a high blood alcohol level at the time of the crash and was speeding.
The driver faces the following charges:

Second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle

Misconduct with a motor vehicle

Assault in the First Degree (two counts)

Operation by persons under the age of 21 while the blood alcohol content is greater than two-hundredths of one percent.

Not driving in the correct lane

Failure to wear seat belt (passenger)

Violation of operator requirements by a 16/17 year old
He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
