The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the heartbreaking shooting death of an 18-month-old child.

Officials said around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. On September 3, Flagler County officers responded to a home on Ranwood Lane in Palm Coast after a panicked 911 call reported that a baby had been shot.
Once on scene, officers found an 18-month-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head. The child was taken to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.

“This is a tragic situation and we extend our condolences to the family and friends of this little girl,” an FCSO spokesperson said in a statement. “No arrests have been made at this time. This death may have been an accident; however, the investigation is still active and ongoing, with the help of Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime scene investigators.”

A written statement from FCSO said that the lead detectives on the case are still actively gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses.
