18-year-old Sayreville man charged with murder in Swider Drive shooting

SAYREVILLE – An 18-year-old neighborhood man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old neighborhood man in the parking lot of an apartment building on Aug. 20.

Daniel Adediran, 18, was arrested without incident on Aug. 28 and charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the death of Jeremiah Brown, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities received a 911 call about a shooting on Swider Drive around 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 20. Upon arrival, officers found Brown suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, the DA’s office said.

An investigation revealed that Adediran shot Brown, the prosecution said, but no motive was given. Adediran and Brown knew each other, the prosecution added.

Adediran was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in North Brunswick pending the outcome of his pretrial detention hearing.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area is asked to contact Detective Michael Pirigyi of the Sayreville Police Department at 732-727-4444 or Detective Michelle Coppola of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3289.
