The 2024 NFL season officially begins on Thursday night in Kansas City, when Patrick Mahomes and the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs host the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
Not bad for an appetizer.

Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes And Andy Reid Making history with the three-peat. This feels like a cowardly solution, but until someone shows they can beat them, why pick against them? I don’t believe the Chiefs have the best roster in the NFL. I do believe they have the best player on the planet. Mahomes gives them a chance every time he’s on the field.

Lions. I love Dan Campbell and the culture they have been able to create. Jared Goff has become an elite QB in today’s NFL. The run game has become the backbone of this team. That pairs well with a stout defense that will get stronger as the season progresses. Watch out for the Lions.

The Chiefs somehow find a way again with a breakout year from wide receiver Rashee Rice and Patrick Mahomes winning back the MVP award. Travis Kelce rides away into the media sunset. Despite the loss, Jordan Love cements himself as one of the best 5-8 quarterbacks in the NFL for the next decade.

The Bengals. Cincinnati will claim its first-ever Super Bowl victory on the back of Joe Burrowwhose 2023 season was cut short after he tore a ligament in his wrist. Cincinnati came close three seasons ago, losing to the Rams in Super Bowl LVI. This time around, they’ll get over the hump, with Burrow leaning on Ja’Marr Chase (who will sign a huge contract extension early this season) and Tee Higgins while the Bengalis tame the lions.

The Eagles. When we made our 2022 postseason predictions, I was one of the few people on staff who pushed the Eagles to the limit, and if it weren’t for a (somewhat coincidental) James Bradberry defensive holding penalty against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, then maybe I was right.
I’m going with the Eagles again this time, because their already strong attack made another difference Saquon-Barkleyand experienced coach Vic Fangio will give the defense an edge again. Eagles-Bengals could be a high-scoring shootout, but I’m going for Super Bowl MVP Jalen hurts make the difference.

Lions. The Lions have the easiest path to the Super Bowl via the NFC, and last year’s postseason experience will help them. Dan Campbell will learn from last year and find a better balance in his aggressive play calling.
The Ravens will get over the hump and use last year’s loss to the Chiefs as a springboard to the Super Bowl, but Detroit’s speed on defense will stop Lamar Jackson and achieve victory.
