2nd ‘dinnertime bandit’ sentenced to probation

September 13 – On March 11, Scottsdale police officers arrested a getaway driver and two accomplices after receiving a frantic call from a North Scottsdale homeowner about intruders.

All three were from Chile and were suspected of being part of a nationwide gang of thieves who robbed houses on tourist visas.

Grecia Castillo, who admitted driving the getaway car, was sentenced to two years’ probation on Thursday, September 5.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Aryeh Schwartz approved a plea agreement and ordered Castillo to serve six months in prison for complicity in burglary.

But he did give Castillo credit for the 179 days she served in the Maricopa County Jail, meaning she will be released this week.

On August 22, Schwartz gave Castillo’s accomplice Sebastian Jesus Soto the same sentence as the driver.
