38 killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip

Thirty-eight people have been killed in several Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Thursday.

The victims included thirteen Palestinians accompanying an aid delivery in the southern part of the coastal strip, according to WAFA.

Others have reportedly been killed in attacks on central and northern Gaza, including women and children.

The Israeli military said it had “carried out precise attacks on armed Hamas terrorists who had gathered at two different meeting points in southern Gaza” after receiving intelligence about their presence.

“The terrorists operated in the humanitarian corridor in the southern Gaza Strip,” the army added. The aim of the attack was to “ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians”.

The Hamas militants planned to “forcibly hijack humanitarian aid trucks,” the Israeli army wrote.

Hamas sparked the war in Gaza with its bloody attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which left more than 1,200 dead.
