Police are searching for a man in connection with what investigators are calling a series of unprovoked attacks, some of them on homeless people, by a group of men and juvenile suspects in Davis. Davis police have arrested another man and four juvenile suspects in connection with the reported attacks.
Authorities previously said they became aware of the group of attackers when five to six people approached two victims in downtown Davis and began attacking them on March 29. One victim was seriously injured in the attack, which was reported around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of Second and F streets, police said on social media.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from area businesses and municipal cameras and found a license plate on a vehicle a suspect drove out of town, police said.
Davis police detectives investigated the case over several months and arrested five people involved in the incidents. Those arrested were a 21-year-old Dixon man and four minors, police said in a Thursday social media release.
Police named 18-year-old Jailen Marsean Samuel Lankford of Dixon as an additional suspect and said he remains at large. His whereabouts are unknown, police said.
According to police, some of the people involved in the March 29 attack are also linked to attacks in January and March.
According to police, at least one person from the group attacked a man on Jan. 4 near an elevator in a city parking garage at 101 F St. It is unclear if police have identified a suspect in the attack.
On March 23, the 21-year-old Dixon man and two minors attacked a man in the 500 block of L Street, police said. Later that night, the trio is accused of attacking two more men at the same elevator in the Jan. 4 attack.
Neither the January attack nor the two reported attacks on March 23 resulted in serious injuries, but all of the victims were homeless, police said.
A 15-year-old juvenile was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault causing serious bodily injury, conspiracy and assault, police said. He was booked into the Yolo County Juvenile Detention Center.
Three minors have been arrested on suspicion of assault and conspiracy, Davis police said.
The 21-year-old Dixon man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, assault and conspiracy. He was booked into the Yolo County Jail on Aug. 15 and released on bail the next day, online jail records show.
