BROCKTON – The director of the Brockton School Police has filed a lawsuit against the school district superintendent, a member of the school committee and another former employee, seeking $680,000 in damages for alleged retaliation against him.

Two men have been charged in connection with a daytime shooting outside Brockton District Court on Monday that left two people injured.

The newest apartment complex in downtown Brockton will be officially completed when Mayor Robert Sullivan and Massachusetts Secretary of Housing Edward Agustus unveil Empresa – an 111-unit mixed-income development on Petronelli Way.

Man, 40, hospitalized after near-drowning incident in Brockton

A 40-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday night after a near-drowning incident at a home, officials said. Brockton Police Department responded to a medical emergency and a report of a man drowning in a swimming pool on Glen Avenue at approximately 11:06 p.m. and rescue personnel arrived,” said Brockton police spokesman Darren Duarte. The victim was later taken to a Boston hospital for further treatment.

Brockton police officer sues $680,000 amid explosive allegations of favoritism, retaliation

The director of the Brockton School Police has filed a lawsuit against the school district superintendent, a member of the school board and another former employee, seeking $680,000 in damages for alleged retaliation against him. Daniel Vaughn, a resident of East Bridgewater who has been a Brockton school police officer since 1994, filed a complaint in Brockton Superior Court on May 31 against the City of Brockton Superintendent of Schools Michael Thomas, Brockton School Committee Ward 4 Representative Tony Rodrigues and Neusa Semedo, specialist in access control for schools.

Brockton Fire Department rescues baby deer trapped in sewer pipe

Brockton Fire Department rescued a fawn Monday afternoon after it got stuck in a sewage treatment plant pipe. After a call from the animal control department, firefighters arrived on the scene to find the frightened and struggling young deer in a pipe in the ravine of a rainwater drainage area. “We lowered one of our members into the ravine up to the edge of the pipe with a cinch mechanism to put on the body,” Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said Tuesday morning.

2 injured in shooting outside Brockton District Court

Two people were injured in a daytime shooting outside Brockton District Court on Monday afternoon, police said. Police responded to a report of a shooting near the George N. Covett Courthouse, near the corner of Main Street and Crescent Street, around 12:30 p.m. injuries and one male victim whose condition is currently being assessed,” said Brockton police spokesman Darren Duarte. “Two people have been taken into police custody and a gun has been recovered.”
