(CBS DETROIT) — A 72-year-old Detroit man is charged with murder after police say he shot and killed his wife.
According to Detroit police, George Douglas Thomas has been charged with first-degree murder and weapons possession.
The shooting happened on July 26 in the 19400 block of Five Points Street. Officers were called to the area for a reported shooting and found a woman who had been shot multiple times. Medics took her to the hospital for treatment, but she later died from her injuries.
According to police, Thomas allegedly had a firearm and shot her.
The 72-year-old was arraigned on July 30 and underwent a competency evaluation on August 6. Detroit police said a competency hearing has been scheduled for November 6.
