Palestinians say hospitals in Jabalia are out of order

Following Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, all three hospitals there have had to cease operations, Palestinian sources said on Saturday.

Israeli tanks have also taken up positions around the Indonesian hospital, added Munir al-Borsh of the Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement.

There was heavy fighting in Jabalia. Palestinian news agency WAFA reported at least 30 deaths and at least 50 injuries as a result of Israeli attacks on Saturday.

More than 42,000 people have been killed since the start of the Gaza war over a year ago, according to Palestinian sources.

These figures, which cannot be independently verified, are considered largely credible, and according to the United Nations, most of the deaths are women and children.

Conditions for civilians still holding out in Jabalia are dire, reports say. Due to the fighting, the dead and wounded often cannot be collected for a long time. Moreover, there is hardly any food or clean drinking water left.

Many people have ignored the Israeli army’s call to go south because they fear they would also be attacked there.
