At least 15 buildings were evacuated Wednesday in Jackson Township after a wildfire broke out, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said.
Firefighters are working through a failed operation, leading the way to slow the fire’s advance and help contain it, NJFFS said on social media.
There are 25 structures threatened by the fire, and it is 0% contained. The extent of the fire was not immediately known on Wednesday.
Fire engines, bulldozers and ground crews are on site.
The fire comes on a day of “very high” fire danger in the state, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said. Fire restrictions were in effect across the state.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
