ONAMIA, Minn. — The family of A doctor died in a collision near Mille Lacs Lake a year ago plans to meet with local officials Wednesday.
A driver drove onto Dr. on November 13, 2023 around 5 p.m. Cathy Donovan on the 40000 block of Highway 169 in Kathio Township. She was walking her dogs at the time, and one of them was also killed.
On Wednesday, Donovan’s sisters plan to mark the anniversary of her death, along with the chief of staff of the hospital where she worked, the Mille Lacs County sheriff’s office and the Ojibwe tribal police chief’s Mille Lacs Band. A press release said the group “will speak about Cathy’s legacy and provide an update on the investigation.”

Multiple witnesses said they saw a dark gray four-door car near Donovan’s death. At the scene, the police only found a windshield wiper.
In January, authorities identified an Edina man’s Tesla as a vehicle of interest in Donovan’s death. However, two months later it did has excluded the vehicle and sought new clues from the public.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information is advised to contact Sgt. Jason Brown at 218-316-3026 or email him.
Donovan, 56, was a caregiver at Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia for many years and a mother of two.
