A South Bend police officer was arrested Sunday on domestic violence charges

SOUTH BEND – A South Bend Police Department officer was arrested and relieved of duty Sunday, Nov. 17, after being accused of domestic violence.

A news release from the South Bend Police Department said 35-year-old David Finn was arrested and held in the St. Joseph County Jail, but there was no indication on the jail’s website Sunday evening that he had been booked into the jail.

The news release said police had recommended a misdemeanor charge, but charging decisions will be made by the St. Joseph County District Attorney’s Office.

Finn, who police said was sworn in as an officer in July 2022, had already been on restrictive duty while he was under investigation for a separate incident that also allegedly occurred while he was off-duty. Police have not given any indication of what Finn was accused of in the previous incident.
