The hot stove has been burning for about a month now and the first free agent is off the board. The Los Angeles Angels, as they have done many times this offseason, have agreed to a three-year, $63 million deal with starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the surprise signing and why it could be a positive move for the Angels, who can capitalize on the third Wild Card spot. While Los Angeles may not be done making moves just yet, this deal should be an encouraging sign to fans that the team plans to compete in 2025.
Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys give an update on the Juan Soto sweepstakes, including which teams they think are out of the running and whether this process could ultimately be futile if Steve Cohen is willing to bid a blank check. The guys also open the BBQ Mailbag to answer listener questions, discuss the trade between the Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals and commemorate 1970 National Champion Rico Carty.
