Two arrested, one at large in connection with an alleged armed robbery on Thanksgiving

November 28 – Santa Fe police arrest two of three people suspected of involvement in an armed robbery at a Speedway gas station on Thanksgiving Day.

One man believed to have been involved in the incident remained at large on Thursday.

Officers responded around 11 a.m. to a panic alarm at a Speedway on Rodeo Road and a report that the station was being robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing a mask, Lt. Heinz DeLuca said in an interview Thursday.

Three suspects fled in a silver Dodge Ram, leading police on a chase through the streets of Santa Fe. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a home and a car parked near Calle Po Ae Pi on the city’s south side, DeLuca said.

The suspects ran away, but police were able to apprehend two of them, DeLuca said.

Geronimo Vigil, 37, was arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident, DeLuca said.

Vigil had an arrest warrant issued charging him with failing to appear in another case in which he was charged with several charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing .

Online court records show Vigil has a history of charges related to drug and property crimes.

An unidentified woman was also arrested, but it was unclear whether she had been charged, DeLuca said.

A third man escaped capture.

DeLuca said there did not appear to be any injuries related to the incident, and he could not immediately say whether the suspects stole money from the business or how much.
