In a viral video, TD Jakes gives an update on his health and thanks medical attention

Following a health crisis during a sermon on Sunday, Bishop TD Jakes provided an update via a video on social media.

In his post, Jakes clarified that he had not suffered a stroke, although he acknowledged that the situation could have been life-threatening without immediate medical attention.

The incident occurred while Jakes, 67, was delivering his sermon and was heard praying, “O Lord, my strength, my savior, let him go in peace.”

Shortly afterwards he went silent, lowered the microphone and started shaking. Several people rushed to the stage to help as the video ended.

In a lengthy post on X, Jakes said he is grateful for the help he has received. In a video at the end of the post, he talked about how happy he is.

In 1996, Jakes founded The Potter’s House, a non-denominational Pentecostal megachurch. Today it has more than 30,000 members and has grown to multiple campuses throughout North Texas.
