DOVER – A man is being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail in connection with the attempted robbery of the Speedway gas station, 225 S. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Monday evening.
The suspect, listed in jail records as homeless, was booked into jail on Tuesday. He is being held on charges of attempted murder and robbery, but Sheriff Orvis Campbell said he has not yet been formally charged.
According to a news release from the Dover Police Department, officers responded to the Speedway on Monday around 6:02 p.m. A female employee reported that she was struck in the head during the incident. The suspect fled the area on foot.
Dover firefighters also responded to the scene and the woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. She was later released.
Police said a person of interest was quickly detained for questioning following the incident.
The New Philadelphia Police Department K9 Unit assisted at the scene.
