Harrison school official removed after allegations of stealing medications from nurse’s office

An assistant principal was removed from his position at a Harrison high school after he was accused of stealing several prescription bottles from the nurse’s office.

Scott Spector, the assistant principal at Louis M. Klein Middle School, worked for the school for nine years until an investigation by the Harrison Police Department revealed that he was responsible for several missing prescription bottles from a key box in the nurse’s office.

Harrison Central School District Superintendent Lou Wool wrote a letter to the school district’s families on Wednesday reassuring them that no students were involved in the incident.

“Nurses follow a strict protocol that requires continuous monitoring and recording of these medications,” Wool said. “We are deeply saddened by this incident and very grateful for the professional due diligence of our nursing staff in quickly discovering the missing medication.”

It was unclear what type of drugs were stolen, but Wool said it was for students only.

Wool said Spector’s position was terminated and he was denied any future access to the district’s schools.
