San Jose firefighters rescued several residents from a two-alarm apartment building fire

Firefighters in San Jose rescued several residents as they tried to contain a two-alarm fire in an apartment building that broke out Friday evening, according to authorities.

Firefighters were called to the incident on the 3500 block of Moorpark Ave around 5:49 p.m. near I-280 in West San Jose.

Officials said the fire was at the Monterey Apartments complex. Crews rescued multiple residents from the building and there was one confirmed injury.

Traffic was affected at Moorpark between Sheraton and Bundy. The fire was under control at 6:18 p.m. The cause is still under investigation.
