On Sunday, Manchester United snapped a two-match losing streak in spectacular fashion by coming from behind to beat Manchester City in the city’s long-standing rivalry match.

The match, which started as a rather dull edition of the Manchester Derby, took a stunning turn as Man United scored two goals in the final three minutes of regular time to take a 2–1 lead.

Manchester City controlled much of the match, with defender Joško Gvardiol heading in the opening goal from a set piece in the 36th minute. But United came back strongly in those final minutes to take the win.

Man United’s equalizing goal came in the 88th minute after a Bruno Fernandes penalty. Man City defender Matheus Nunes made two key mistakes in the build-up to the kick. First he received a poor pass that was intercepted by United striker Amad Diallo, and then he fouled Diallo in the penalty area in his haste to make up for the mistake.

Diallo had the last laugh, sprinting through Man City’s defense to score the match winner, receiving a beautiful touch that went over the head of City goalkeeper Ederson and deftly crossing the ball into the goal for the win.

The defeat means Manchester City has now lost five of its last seven games and is also finding it extremely difficult to play in the UEFA Champions League. Manager Pep Guardiola will have to do some research after this heavy loss.
