Victim seriously burned during an overnight fire in an apartment in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood

A male victim rescued from an apartment fire in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood overnight suffered burns to his body and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, police and firefighters were called to a fire at an apartment building in the 2500 block of North Meade Avenue. A male victim was rescued with a laceration to the neck and burns to the body, police said.

The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. The exact age of the victim was not immediately known.
