There are two main parts to the weather story in the Philadelphia region on Tuesday: cold temperatures and the lack of rain.
First, temperatures: A freeze advisory is in effect for many counties around the Delaware Valley on Tuesday morning as temperatures dip into the low 30s and low 40s. Make sure you’re bundled up when you head out, temperatures will be 20 degrees cooler in some places than Monday morning.
Daytime highs will only reach the upper 50s for the first time this season, followed by even colder temperatures Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Our average high this time of year is in the upper 60s. Seasonal temperatures return Friday and then another nice warm-up for the weekend, with highs back into the 70s.
This will also be a very dry and sunny week with dry conditions all weekend. Conditions will not help with the development of a moderate and even severe drought in parts of the area, especially parts of Burlington and Atlantic counties in New Jersey.
In fact, we’ve only had a little over an inch of rain in almost two months, with no rainfall so far in October. The last time we had a real soaking rain – more than an inch – was 68 days ago and counting.
