A shooting has left one dead and one injured in the Westmont area

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, it happened in the 9400 block of S. Normandie Avenue just after 7:15 p.m.

Officers arrived on scene and found two men with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Both were rushed by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

He has not yet been identified. This also applies to the other victim, who according to officers was in stable condition.

Investigators recovered a weapon at the scene, but were unable to provide any information on a possible suspect or motive in the incident.
