A suspected drunk driver accidentally called 911

A suspected drunk driver accidentally called the Nebraska Police Department, leading to his arrest.

The man called 911 to report another driver he believes was driving on the wrong side of the highway, according to a Facebook post from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office released video of the March incident on Thursday, along with audio from the driver’s 911 call.

When authorities arrived, it became apparent that the caller himself was the one driving on the wrong side of the road – and he was drunk.

“I’m driving north on Highway 77 and there’s someone on the wrong side of the road,” the driver says in a recording of the 911 call. He added that the other driver “almost ran me off the road.”

“That was tough,” he said. “That was so much.”

The video shows how the unknown driver is stopped by a police officer.

“Do you know why I stopped you?” asks the officer.

“Yes, because I was on the wrong side of the road,” the driver admits.

When asked if there was a reason he was driving on the wrong side, he replied that he “definitely missed an exit.” The driver also confirmed that he was the same person who previously called 911.

According to the police, the driver had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. “Fortunately, a Lancaster County deputy was able to apprehend this driver before anyone was seriously injured,” the Facebook post reads.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.
