A woman found dead on Sunday west of Salley, SC, has been identified, but an autopsy date is not immediately scheduled.
Aiken County authorities are trying to locate the woman’s relatives, County Coroner Darryl Ables told The Augusta Chronicle on Monday.
A 911 call “about finding a white female who appeared deceased” led investigators to the T-intersection of Salley and Veterans roads, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The investigation continues to find a cause of death, which an autopsy would likely confirm.
“Anytime you find someone in a wooded area or on a forest edge, I always assume it’s some suspicious death,” Ables said.
