ALIQUIPPA – A townsman is being charged after prosecutors said he violated several federal laws related to drugs and guns.
According to court documents, a federal grand jury indicted 36-year-old Travon Dawkins of Aliquippa on eight counts related to violations of narcotics and firearms laws. If Dawkins is found guilty, he faces 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $2.25 million for these charges.
In an indictment filed in court, prosecutors say investigators discovered Dawkins distributed crack on several dates in January and February this year. During this time, Dawkins also illegally obtained a firearm, which he was barred from possessing due to previous felony convictions.
An indictment is an accusation and suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
