President Donald Trump signed nearly 50 executive actions on his first day back in office, aggressively launching his second presidency as he looks to fulfill key campaign promises.
Of these executive actions, which included proclamations and presidential memoranda, there were at least 26 executive orders, some of which aimed to crack down on immigration, gut energy and climate policies, and curb trans rights.
By comparison, Trump signed fourteen executive actions in his first week in office in 2017 — which set a new record at the time — and former President Joe Biden signed fifteen executive actions on his first day in 2021.

Trump had promised during the election that he would implement major policies on his first day in the White House, saying he would not be a dictator “except on Day 1” of his presidency.
Many of the executive orders he signed will not take effect immediately, and legal challenges from civil rights organizations and Democratic groups are likely in the coming weeks. Indeed, several lawsuits have already been filed.
Below are all the executive orders Trump signed on Monday. Click here to see the full list of his Day 1 executive actions.
We’ve come a long way since Trump told voters he wants to “get rid of executive orders.”
