Piscataway police say they have caught alligators on the loose in Middlesex County

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A four-foot alligator was caught on the side of the road in New Jersey on Thursday.

Officials tell CBS New York’s Nick Caloway they believe that was the case the same alligator that roamed Middlesex for weeks.

On Thursday, an alligator measuring more than four feet long was spotted on the side of the road in New Jersey.

Piscataway Police


Piscataway police say someone reported seeing the alligator on Second Avenue near Hancock Road shortly after 10 p.m.

Officers were able to put the alligator on a leash and bring it back to their headquarters, where they placed it in a holding cell until the Department of Environmental Protection Fish and Wildlife Bureau arrived.

Authorities say the alligator will eventually be adopted by a local zoo or sanctuary.
