Communities across Massachusetts are wasting no time getting into the festive spirit.
On Friday, Quincy’s Hancock Adams Common teamed up with holiday magic for their annual tree lighting ceremony.
“Every year we’ve added a little more,” Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch explains.
“It makes us all feel like kids again.”
This year’s event featured Victorian carolers, LED jugglers, stilt walkers, fire shows, musical performances and costumed characters.
“They really did it bigger and better than ever,” said Stephanie Boleza, who has attended the event with her husband Patrick for the past three years.
“It feels like Quincy has continued to grow as a community. There are a lot of good people here,” Patrick added.
The festive events in the city continue all weekend.
On Saturday, families can watch Santa Claus arrive by helicopter to visit the children.
It will take place at 12:00 noon at Pageant Field.
The city’s 71st annual Christmas Parade kicks off at noon Sunday on the portion of Hancock Street between Walter Hannon Parkway and School Street.
