WARREN, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – The city of warren and two of its police officers are facing a new $100 million lawsuit in connection with the fatal accident last month that left two men dead.
Fieger Law filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court on behalf of the family of 33-year-old DeJuan Pettis. It is alleged that on September 30, the police officers were not obeying traffic laws and were driving more than 100 miles per hour when they collided with a Dodge Durango occupied by Pettis and 34-year-old Cedric Hayden Jr. at the corner of Schoenherr Road . The lawsuit also alleges that the officers did not activate sirens or lights and did not brake before colliding with the Durango.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Fieger Law, who also represents Hayden’s family in a separate $100 million lawsuitheld a news conference Wednesday demanding that the city of Warren and its police department be held accountable for the crash.

Warren police say they cannot comment on pending litigation. Police said the cruiser was not involved in a high-speed chase at the time of the crash.
