The Buccaneers enjoyed a comfortable victory over the Commanders on Sunday, but they were struggling with several injuries in their defense.
Head coach Todd Bowles said at his Monday press conference that safety Antoine Winfield is wearing a running boot after being injured late in the 37-20 win. Bowles said it is unknown at this time whether the injury will affect his availability for the Week 2 game against the Lions.
Cornerback Bryce Hall certainly won’t be there. Bowles said Hall is likely out for the rest of the season after being carried off the field in a cast on his leg. Bowles didn’t specify the nature of the injury, but NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports that he dislocated his ankle and broke his fibula.
The Bucs also had cornerbacks Zyon McCollum and Josh Hayes injured Sunday. McCollum suffered a concussion and Hayes injured his ankle. Both players join Winfield and defensive linemen Logan Hall and Calijah Kancey as question marks this week.
