Arab countries welcome the ceasefire in Gaza and call for humanitarian aid

Several Arab states have welcomed the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the announced release of hostages.

“This announcement brings to an end a bloody chapter in the history of the Palestinian people, who have suffered greatly under Israeli aggression,” Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said.

The United Arab Emirates Foreign Ministry described the deal as a way to alleviate dire conditions in Gaza. The ministry called on both sides to uphold the agreement to end the suffering of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, while emphasizing the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into the blockaded coastal enclave.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi stressed the need for international action to deal with what he described as a humanitarian catastrophe caused by Israeli attacks. He reiterated Jordan’s commitment to continue humanitarian assistance to those affected.
