As former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris face off in a presidential debate tonight, the Libertarian presidential candidate will be watching in Indianapolis.
Chase Oliver, the 38-year-old Libertarian presidential candidate from Atlanta, is hosting a debate viewing party tonight at the Indiana Libertarian Party headquarters, where he will provide live commentary on the debate.
In a press release last week, Oliver criticised ABC, the network that will broadcast the debate, for not including other candidates.
“When we watch Donald Trump and Kamala Harris debate on ABC, please know that this debate is incomplete and does not tell the full story of this election,” Oliver said in a statement.
Oliver’s campaign says he is the first openly gay presidential candidate to be nominated by a major political party. He will also attend a candidate meeting with the Indy Rainbow Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night.
Hoosier Libertarians are running in several races in November. Earlier this year, the Indiana Libertarian Party nominated candidates at its state convention, including Donald Rainwater for governor and Andrew Horning for U.S. Senate. The party also has candidates running in all nine of Indiana’s districts.
There is room for success for Libertarians in Indiana: four years ago, Donald Rainwater was the most successful Libertarian candidate to run in at least 20 years, with 11% of the vote.
