Atlanta police say four people were shot dead in less than 12 hours

Atlanta police are currently investigating four homicides in less than 12 hours.

Investigators say they were called to at least four shootings between 1 a.m. and noon on Saturday. In each of those scenes, they found one person who had been shot and died of his wounds.

Channel 2 Action News teams are closely following all shootings and will have final details on WSB tonight at 11pm

Just after 1 a.m., officers were called to Thomasville Blvd. SE and Henry Thomas Drive SE, where they found a man in his thirties with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Investigators later learned that the shooting took place on Norwood Road SE, nearly a mile from where the victim was found.

Police have since arrested 40-year-old Leverett Hancock and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. He is being held at the Fulton County Jail.

Just after 3am, officers were called to Fairburn Road NW where they found a man in his 40s suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The man’s identity has not been released. Nothing is yet known about possible suspects.

TRENDING STORIES:

At 9:57 a.m., officers responded to a call from a person at a home on Magnolia Way NW. There they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released. Investigators say they have identified a person interested in the man’s shooting.

Just after noon, officers responded to a fourth shooting at Margaret Place NW in which a woman had been shot.

Police say the woman and a person of interest, known to the victim, were arguing about the eviction when the shooting took place.

It is unclear whether the woman was evicted from her home. Her identity has not been released.
