SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – After lows dropped into the low 70s overnight into Sunday morning, we’re looking at an even hotter and more humid day ahead of us on Sunday as dangerous heat arrives. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s with heat indexes as high as 110 at times. A stray shower/storm is possible Sunday afternoon/evening with the possibility of an isolated stronger to severe storm in far northern and western Siouxland.
Extreme Heat Warnings (areas in bright pink hues) and Heat Advisories (areas in peach hues) are in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday afternoon across Siouxland.
It will remain warm until Monday, with maximums around 32 degrees. Monday evening there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms again and we will see temperatures drop to around 27 degrees.
More chance for showers and thunderstorms throughout the week as temperatures drop back into the upper 70s and low to mid 80s by Labor Day weekend. However, things are looking great for the long holiday weekend and Labor Day!
At night, temperatures will drop again to above 15 degrees Celsius, as we head into the long holiday weekend.
