Boy, 15, charged with murder of man and 6-year-old girl in drive-by shooting in Orlando

Orlando police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a 6-year-old girl.

Orlando police said the suspect, Nico Brown, 15, is now in custody and facing first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of two victims.

According to a press release, officers responded to 1141 Poppy Avenue around 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 29 to reports of two people shot from a passing car.

One of the victims, 6-year-old Ajahliyah Hashim, was shot in her living room and taken to hospital.

She died of her injuries on Thursday.

Superintendent Maria Vazquez of Orange County Public Schools said Hashim was a student of Eagle’s Nest Elementary.

Hashim’s mother was also shot and is still in the hospital.

A third gunshot victim, 19-year-old Isaiyah Wright, arrived at Health Central in Ocoee and died.

Police said they will continue to investigate the shooting, as they believe the 6-year-old and mother were not the intended targets.
