Browns DE Myles Garrett to miss Thursday practice with foot injury

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett did not practice Thursday due to a foot injury and has been added to the team’s injury report.

However, Garrett is expected to play in the Browns’ Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. So is fellow defensive end Za’Darius Smith, who missed Thursday’s practice with a back injury. Both players are experiencing muscle soreness, but their injuries are not considered serious.

Garrett recorded one sack in Week 1’s 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, forcing Dak Prescott to fumble and Dallas recovered it. Garrett collected two tackles, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit on the day.

The eight-year veteran was named the AP 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season after recording 14 sacks, 42 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 30 quarterback hits in 16 games. He also earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.
