On Saturday night at around 11:20 p.m., Kennewick police attempted to stop a stolen car near 100 North Ely Street, but the suspect drove away.
Kennewick Police officers then began pursuing the car, which was driving erratically.
Because there were few cars and pedestrians at this time of day, officers followed the driver to the area of ​​North Volland Street and West Canal Drive.
Police said the car either experienced mechanical problems or driver error at the intersection, causing it to lose control and crash into a retaining wall.
Four people got out of the car and tried to run away, but were quickly apprehended by police.
The driver was arrested and taken to Benton County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, attempted elude, hit-and-run, a warrant, and driving on a revoked license.
One of the passengers was arrested and charged with obstructing a public servant, police said.
The other two people were checked by Kennewick Fire Department and released.
