Officials with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office say the warrant was for child sexual exploitation.

Carroll County says they were assisting the GBI when Bristow was shot in the face.

“I don’t believe this was an ambush. I believe this was a situation where things went wrong,” said Ashley Hulsey of CCSO.

It is the seventh time this year that a Georgia police officer has been shot in the line of duty.

The last time was last Saturday, when Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Cunningham was shot and killed while responding to a report of domestic violence.
