GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE — Dozens of motorcyclists doing wheelies and rolling donuts disrupted traffic on the famous Golden Gate Bridge Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. on the north side of the bridge
A group of several dozen motorcyclists stop traffic to lead the illegal sideshow. A CHP cruiser attempted to intervene but was blocked by traffic and unable to safely pursue.
After about 15-20 minutes, the illegal sideshow came to an end. The riders then headed south to San Francisco, where one of the rouge bikers was taken into custody by National Park Police as he attempted to flee through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
The CHP told KPIX that its officers were familiar with the group from past incidents, including racing down San Francisco’s Embarcadero.
They usually arrive in large groups and then drive along the northern side of the bridge before turning around and heading back south, where they then scatter into the city.
