Celebrini leaves Shark preseason game with lower-body injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Sharks rookie center Macklin Celebrini was unable to finish San Jose’s 3-1 loss to the Utah Hockey Club Tuesday night at SAP Center due to an injury.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft came down hard in the second period after stumbling. Although he did not immediately leave the game, Celebrini eventually left the ice and was ruled from the game with a lower body injury to start the third period.
An injury to Celebrini is the last thing the Sharks need as the 2024-2025 NHL season approaches.
After the game, coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters he had no news on Celebrini’s status.

The teenage phenom is playing a big role in the rebuilding San Jose team, and Celebrini will need all the ice time he can get as he adapts to the NHL.
The Sharks open the regular season on October 10 at home against the St. Louis Blues.
