CHICAGO (CBS) — Waves of rain are expected tonight.
Rain rates of 1 inch per hour are possible in any storms, according to CBS 2 Meteorologist Mary Kay Kleist.

The threat of flooding is our main concern with this system. Kleist closely monitors the forward movement of storms.

If they slow down at all, downpours are possible and the threat of flooding increases. The parent low pressure system moves overhead tonight. The reason we have rain in the forecast for tomorrow morning is because enveloping showers will carry the northerly windstream as the system moves out.

There is a serious threat with us this afternoon, although the instability is limited. There is the possibility of a brief spin-up from a tornado this afternoon.
