CIA offers buyouts to workforce as Trump administration makes efforts to scale back to the government

The CIA has offered so-called buyouts to its workforce, said a spokesperson for CIA, the last step of the Trump government to revise and scale the federal government.

The supply of eight months of wages and benefits is comparable to deferred dismissal offers proposed to employees at other federal agencies. But at the CIA some employees, including dealing with tasks with high priority, are not eligible for the offer.

“Director [John] Ratcliffe is quickly moving to ensure that the CIA staff respond to the national security priorities of the administration, “said the spokesperson per e -mail.

During his confirmation hearing, Ratcliffe promised to keep politics out of decisions with regard to intelligence and said that he would not use loyalty tests as the basis for hiring or firing CIA staff.

“These movements are part of a holistic strategy to deliver the agency with renewed energy, offer opportunities to rising leaders to stand up and to better position the CIA to deliver his mission,” said the CIA spokesperson.

Federal employee unions and lawyers, as well as democratic legislators, have warned federal employees not to accept the offers and say that they are legally dubious and that the congress has not authorized funds for such radical packages.

The size of the CIA’s workforce, such as with other intelligence services, is always closely monitored and remains classified.

Ratcliffe, a former member of the Texas congress, who was the director of President Donald Trump of National Intelligence during his first term, was confirmed as CIA director on January 23.
