Clovis agents find dead man at the scene of reported home burglary Friday

CLOVIS, NM — One person has died following a reported burglary Friday morning in Clovis, Clovis Police Department announced Friday evening.

At approximately 9:56 a.m. on Friday, August 4, officers from the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to 700 Dawn Loop for a report of a burglary in progress. The caller told 911 that a man had broken into their home.

Police said officers arrived on the scene and found a man shot and succumbing to his wounds.

Officers secured the crime scene and the Ninth Judicial Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was activated.

“All persons involved in this incident have been located and are cooperating with the investigation. There is no immediate danger to the public,” said a press release.

The name of the dead man will be released upon notification of relatives. No further information was available.

The Serious Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident.
