Early Tuesday morning, southbound I-77 was closed at the I-85 ramp as first responders rescued livestock from an overturned tractor-trailer.
North Carolina Department of Transportation crews said the truck overturned around 12:22 a.m. Tuesday.
The ramp was closed for several hours while crews attempted to rescue the cows and get the trailer upright.
MEDIC said it responded and no people were injured. North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said 40 cows were on board. They were not immediately aware of any injuries.
