CHICAGO (CBS) — Police are searching for two men responsible for multiple armed robberies in three Chicago neighborhoods this month.
The robberies have taken place since August 11 in Chinatown, West Town and the Loop.
According to Chicago police, in each incident, two men drive up to the victims in a dark blue Land Rover or Kia. The men then get out of the car with a gun and threaten to kill the victims.
The men drove away after the victims handed over their cell phones and wallets.
Incident dates and locations:
- 2300 block of South Wentworth Avenue on August 11, from 1:25-1:27 p.m.
- 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue on Aug 11 at 11:53 p.m.
- 300 block of West 23rd Street on August 11 at 11:56 p.m.
- 200 block of West 23rd Place on August 19 at 10:30 p.m.
- 300 block of North Morgan Street on August 20 at 12:45 p.m.
- 200 block of West Randolph Street on August 21 at 2:00 a.m.
- 100 block of West Randolph Street on August 21 at 2:03 a.m.
The robbers were described as two black men, 1.70 to 1.75 metres tall, of slim build, dressed in black, wearing balaclavas and armed with a semi-automatic firearm.
Police remind the public:
- Note any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
- Never chase a fleeing attacker. Give the information to the police.
- Never resist a robbery. Value your life above all possessions.
- If you are approached by a witness to the incident, ask for contact information.
- Call 9-1-1 immediately and remain on the scene if possible.
- Don’t touch anything until the police arrive.
